TO THE MOON….AND BACK: THE VOYAGE OF APOLLO 8
Museum of the Grand Prairie, Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve, 2 p.m.
When people think of or look at the Moon, their thoughts usually turn to Neil Armstrong and planting the first flag on the lunar surface. But of equal or maybe even greater importance was the flight of Apollo 8. Join us as David Leake, Director of the William M. Staerkel Planetarium, describes what happened during that mission, the events that led up to it, why it was significant, and how it fit into the happenings of 1968. After the presentation, feel free to explore our newest exhibit 1968: A Time for Every Purpose. FREE. All ages. For more info: (217) 586-2612 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
