Do you have special memories of time spent outdoors? Perhaps you taught your children how to catch that first fish. Maybe you just enjoyed the quiet by yourself while you waited for a bite. Possibly your best memories are stories your grandfather told you about when he was a kid. Well, it's our goal to help you bring some of those memories back to life.
Three days this year, we will offer a time for fun family fishing! Whether you've never been fishing in your life, or your family fishes all the time, you will learn something new. There will be demonstrations, kids' activities, prizes and more! Basic fishing instruction will be provided, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources has agreed to waive the fishing license requirement for these events (catch-and-release only). There will be bait and a limited number of fishing poles to use. If you have your own equipment, we encourage you to bring it. Adult supervision of children is required. We would also greatly appreciate volunteers! For more information, call (217) 896-2455 or e-mail shampson@ccfpd.org.
