In 1992, the Forest Preserve District, along with Ducks Unlimited and the Illinois Department of Conservation, celebrated the completion of the Waterfowl Management Project at our Middle Fork Preserve near Penfield. Funded by the Illinois Duck Stamp Program, this area consists of two, large wetland areas totaling 130 acres of optimum nesting and migratory waterfowl habitat.[photograph by Joe Taylor]
