Founding Fathers of the Forest Preserve District looking at plans for the Lake of the Woods Golf Course in the 1950s

By 1950, work had started on the golf course, with the first nine holes opening the next year. Robert Bruce Harris, nationally known golf architect, designed the course. These dignitaries are pictured viewing the plans for the course. Seated (l-r) are T.D. Parkhill, Hartwell C. Howard and H.I. Gelvin. Standing (l-r) are Commissioners C.V. Wilson and D.C. Delbridge, along with Donald Porter and Leonard Bantz.
