BOOK SIGNING AND Q&A
THE HEARTLAND: AN AMERICAN HISTORY
Museum of the Grand Prairie, Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve, 2 p.m.
The rural and small town heartland is considered by many to be a quintessentially American place. Kristin L. Hoganson, author & professor of History at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, will present this fascinating program that uncovers the American heartland’s deep yet hidden currents of connection with the world. Hoganson’s book, The Heartland: An American History, drills deep into the center of the country, only to find a global story in the resulting core sample. Copies will be available for purchase, and a book signing will follow the presentation. Be sure to check out our exhibits, The Grand Prairie Story and Discovering Home, to learn more about Champaign County and east-central Illinois’ connections with the Midwestern community and wider world. FREE. For more info: (217) 586-2612 or pcain@ccfpd.org.
