GARDEN SPEAKER SERIES

HOW-TO DESIGN A GARDEN FOR BIRDS

Online Event, Streaming on the Museum of the Grand Prairie Facebook and YouTube pages, 7 p.m.

With the large amount of time everyone is spending at home these days, the theme for this year’s Garden Speaker Series is “How-To at Home” with programs focusing on how to garden in various ways within your own home. Dr. Michael P. Ward, an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences and an Avian Ecologist at the Illinois Natural History Survey, will present this engaging virtual program. Dr. Ward will discuss his understanding of avian ecology and behavior and his knowledge of birds’ habitat selection, describing design features and plantings we can introduce in our home gardens to make them both inviting to and protective of the variety of song birds that frequent this area. FREE. For more info: (217) 586-2612 or pcain@ccfpd.org.
