Thursday, January 28

Online Event, Streaming on the Museum of the Grand Prairie Facebook and YouTube pages, 7 p.m.

In celebration of women’s suffrage and the 19th amendment, Museum and Education Department Director, Barb Garvey, Ph.D., will take you on a virtual house tour. She’ll highlight nineteen places in Champaign County that once were the province of prominent local suffragists while discussing their contribution to the movement and to the community. A downloadable PDF brochure will be provided so that, at your leisure, you can visit the homes and see where these local ladies, who shook and moved this county, lived. For the more digitally inclined, an audio tour using the mobile app, Clio, will be made available. Be sure to visit our special exhibit, How Long Must Women Wait? Woman Suffrage and Women’s Rights in Champaign County, and learn about more leading ladies from our history! Virtual tours of the exhibit can be found on our Facebook and YouTube pages! FREE.
