The Museum of the Grand Prairie will continue to uphold all necessary public health guidelines and restrictions to keep our patrons and staff safe. However, we have made a handful of changes to our operations in response to Bridge Phase Mitigations put in place by the State of Illinois on May 14, 2021. Those changes include:

The Museum of the Grand Prairie and Champaign County Forest Preserve District strives to keep its users safe while offering great educational opportunities. It is likely that we will increase hours in the coming months if the COVID-19 virus statistics improve. Meanwhile, the Museum and Education Department will continue to offer excellent programming on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Find us there!
The Museum of the Grand Prairie at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet offers dynamic exhibits, programs and events rich in local history. During your visit, head outside to enjoy the Discovery Garden, the Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden and hiking trails in natural areas.
Our regular hours are reduced due to COVID-19. Please note statement above regarding the museum's current hours.
The Museum of the Grand Prairie is open March-December
March - May: 1pm to 5 pm daily
June - August: 10 am to 5 pm daily
September - December: 1pm to 5 pm daily
Admission is free.
